Ann Charlott is a Danish textile artist working across 2D and 3D formats, with a deep-rooted interest in embroidery, drawing, and storytelling through materials. Since 2019, her practice has centered around using embroidery as a form of drawing, often on large-scale textiles that combine intuitive quilting and layered surfaces. Her work blurs the boundary between fine art and craft, embedding memory, landscape, and lived experience into each stitch.

Based on the island of Bornholm, Ann Charlott is an active member of the local and international arts community. She is a member of the Arts and Crafts Association Bornholm (since 2022) and the Danish Designers and Craftspeople Association (DKoD) since 2018. Her work has been exhibited widely across Denmark and abroad, in both solo and group exhibitions. Recent highlights include a 2025 solo show of large-scale textile tapestries at the Center for Arts & Crafts Grønbechsgaard and the group exhibition Tekstur at Gudhjem Museum. In 2024, two of her curated works was acquired by the Bornholm Art Museum.

She was also a key participant in 8:Bodø (2019–2022), a three-year artistic research project exploring drawing and embroidery in dialogue with Nordic landscapes, culminating in exhibitions in Denmark and Norway. Other notable projects include collaborations with the street art initiative Klodekær and the 2022 Craftweek Bornholm, as well as early career workshops blending puppetry, circus arts, and visual storytelling.

Charlott holds a Master’s degree in Textile Design from The Royal Danish Academy of Architecture and Design (2004), with her thesis “I Am Carrying My Home”—a survival jacket for the homeless—nominated for the humanitarian INDEX: Award in 2005. Her educational background includes studies in art and cultural science, sustainability, and permaculture, reflecting her commitment to ecological thinking and social engagement.

In addition to her artistic practice, Ann Charlott is currently studying to become a certified teacher in fine arts, design, and craft at University College Campus Carlsberg in Copenhagen.

Her travels and research have taken her across Europe, India, Australia, and North America—visiting textile workshops, artist residencies, and cultural hubs. She draws inspiration from the places she visits, the people she meets, and the materials she works with—translating them into tactile artworks that speak through threads, textures, and time.
